Cary's Pocket Community Garden (CPCG)
Founded by Keith & Gioia Bliss, CPCG was created to fill a community need and is quickly growing into an organization with a mission!
We've created a place for members to learn & share in the experience of growing in a sustainable and productive organic vegetable garden.
Our goal is to host educational workshops and share information on our website relating to organic gardening, community involvement, healthy living, and more.
Cary's Pocket Community Garden has partnered with Plant-A-Row, a national program offered through the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and the Carying Place to help feed the hungry. From the 2010 crop so far, over 400 pounds of food has been donated!
In partnership with Grow and Share and many generous sponsors, the garden quickly took shape. We have had overwhelming support from the local community and many sponsors have come forward donating time, materials and labor. We also have members signed up to participate in growing the garden and we are also working on getting non-profit 501(c)3 status!
This entire project started on April 1st with an idea, on April 2nd with an inspiration, and by the end of April a plan and a mission! On Thursday, May 13th Keller Williams associates and other volunteers came together and laid the foundation for Cary’s Pocket Garden. It's hard to believe so much has been accomplished in such little time. We're really proud of how far we've come....
Our COMMUNITY PARTNERS have played an amazing role in contributing all the supplies we've needed to completely build and sustain our Urban Garden in Downtown Cary. Without these businesses dedicated to helping us feed the local in need, we wouldn't be where we are today. Patronize these businesses today!
